Why it matters

Every mile not driven is money kept.

Small service teams that visit clients on a schedule usually plan routes by hand. For the Minnesota home-service team we're building Logistix with, that meant about two hours per person, every time the schedule changed, and routes that were never quite the shortest.

In testing on real roads, Logistix plans a full week for 43 clients across seven counties in about 30 seconds. With fuel prices rising, the miles it saves are money in the budget, and the time it saves goes back to clients.

How it works

How a plan is made.

  1. 01

    Your client list in

Upload the spreadsheet you already keep, or the tracker you marked up. Visits marked done are skipped.

  2. 02

    Real-road drive times

Time and distance between every pair of clients, on real roads, not straight lines on a map.

  3. 03

    The plan

Must-see clients are fitted first, then as many others as the day allows, in the order that drives the fewest miles.

  4. 04

    Your plan out

A map, a schedule for each person, the week at a glance, and an Excel tracker to mark up and re-upload.

What it handles

Built around how real days go.

Working in the prototype

01

Must-see clients come first

Mark the clients who can't wait. They're scheduled before anyone else, and if one can't fit, you get a clear warning, never a silent miss.

02

Appointment times people can live with

Appointments land on the quarter hour, and the whole day is planned around them, so the 3:00 visit is still accurate at 3:00.

03

One day or the whole week

Plan Monday to Friday at once. Logistix picks each client's day and groups nearby clients together, around each person's hours and days off.

04

Clients stay with the people who know them

Each person keeps their own client list. A day off means those clients wait, rather than being handed to someone new.

05

Breaks placed, not padded

Short breaks are scheduled between visits, so they don't push every later appointment off.

06

Re-plan in the middle of the week

Mark visits done in the tracker, upload it Monday night, and Tuesday through Friday re-plan around what's left. Change one visit and only that day moves.

Privacy by design

Your client list stays yours.

Logistix works from the spreadsheet you already keep. We don't keep a copy of your client list: clearing the screen or closing the tab wipes it. That matters when your clients' home addresses are sensitive, and it's how Logistix was designed from day one.

Before it handles real client addresses, Logistix will run on its own routing server, so addresses aren't sent to an outside mapping service.

Coming next

In development

From prototype to your whole team

  • A hosted version with logins for your whole team
  • Address lookup, with an on-screen check before you plan
  • A phone view for people on the road
  • Calendar sync with Google and Outlook
